Hi everyone!

It's my second day of college, and I'm in the class I was most excited for: English. Out of all my favorite things, books (and by extension, writing) are it. I've always found that reading is the best escape for me; be it family troubles, friendship problems, or even internal mental battles, reading has always been able to calm whatever violent turmoil is going on in my life. I am rather picky, though, with which universes I throw myself into; fantasy and fiction are my two main genres, since I'm not particularly keen on nonfiction. Of course there have been, and will be, exceptions to that rule, especially now that I'm in college. I look forward to being challenged with what I read and how I apply what I've read to my writing; I know college will be difficult, but English is definitely a class worth all the effort I intend to put into it.

To tell you a smidgen about myself, I'm Aly and I intend to get my Bachelor's degree in nursing. It's at odds with my initial paragraph about my love of books and English, I know, but I've always found medical shows intriguing. That's not to say that I'm intending to abandon English, because I'm going to minor with an English degree if I'm able. Additionally I do have another blog, it's a personal one on Tumblr, which I use to talk about my interests (Doctor Who, music, book series, etc) with people around the world and friends nearby. Other than that, nothing else to say except I hope you like my writing, and critiques are encouraged!
